My kitchen sink is clogged, and we tried Draino, and it didn’t work. Any other suggestions short of calling a plumber.

use a plunger

a snake to unclog the drain,

Option #1
Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain followed by 1 cup of hot vinegar. Try heating the vinegar in the microwave before adding it to the drain. Wait 5 minutes before flushing the drain with 2 quarts of hot water. You can repeat this process a few times if it is necessary. If this is the first time you have cleaned your drain in a long time it may be necessary to repeat the baking soda flush a couple of times.

Option #2
Try pouring 1 Cup of baking soda and 1/2 Cup of salt down the drain. Let this mixture sit in the drain for several hours, overnight is best, before flushing the drain with 2 cups of boiling water.

Try caustic soda follow instructions on container, you can get it at most supermarkets and hardware stores.

Is it the garbage disposal or just sink? If it’s the sink….try hooking up a garden hose to run inside house to the sink. Plug up the sink on the other side….stick the hose down the drain…..stuff a rag or towel around the hose to hold in the pressure…after you get that done…have someone turn the water on while you hold the hose. Let it run for 10 seconds then check to see if it is draining OK. While you are doing this….make sure you keep an eye on the drain pipes so they don’t come apart.

Did you use the draino correctly. It is amazing how many people don’t use draino according to the instructions. They just pour it down the sink and turn on the tap. You are supposed to mix it in cold water first until dissolved. If you use a plastic bucket you will feel it starting to get hot. Then pour down liquid down the drain and wait about 10 minutes. You should be able to hear the draino working and see some gasses coming out of the drain. It is powerful stuff. Warning, do not inhale the fumes.

you could look under the sink and find the elbow point take it off and make sure there isn’t something in it other than a clog then use pipe tape to put it back together it isn’t that hard just a pipe wrench and some pipe tape should do it you don’t even have to turn the water off lmao…if you want to try and old fashion remedy use poor a box of baking soda in it then pour a half glass of vinegar in it …draino ? are you using the gel type or liquid? you can get the gel at the dollar store and it will cling to the pipe better and longer to fight it better than the liquid i prefer it 100% over the liquid draino…then you can also rent a snake at the hardware stores to run down it but i don’t really like this method because today the pipes are pvc not metal anymore and the snake can break them more easily…if you have a plunger it might work along with the draino you have tried ….good luck hope one of these will help

If a plunger doesn’t do it, try a pot of Boiling water and one cup of baking soda. It should fizz. Repeat if necessary. Makes a plunger (if you need to use one) easier to use.

You can use Lye to unclog your drain, use with hot water and don’t over use.

Get one of those suction cup-like things called a “plumbers mate”. They’re cheap. Put it over the drain hole, run a little water into the sink to increase the seal and work it up and down a few times. Just be careful not to splash if there is still Draino about as it is mostly caustic soda and not good for you and specially not good for your eyes. This is what the plumber will try first.

But by the time you have gone out to get it the Draino might have had some effect, it does not work instantly.

When the water starts to run, follow it up with a good lot of HOT HOT water with a bit of detergent in it and give it a good plunging. Then do the shower and bath drains for luck.

Use Gel Liquid Plumber and let it set over nite then leave hot water run for five minutes The first persons answer was good to try also Plunger

I unclog drains with a wet/dry shop vac. I’ve only tried bath tubs but it might work in the sink also. Just be sure to cover one drain if you have two, with a rag or a plastic bowl.

For under $25 go to home depot an buy a 25 foot snake then under your sink u will see a loop in the pipe this is called the trap first get a bucket an place it under the trap (there is water in it ) then dismantle it , now the pipe is open run the snake into it an follow the directions of the snake this should take care of it .
