How do I fix my severely clogged kitchen sink?
I poured oatmeal down my kitchen sink a week ago and it has been clogged up since. Drano and the plunger haven’t worked. I bought a snake but I can fit it into the small drain openings. What do I do now?

I would have thought the only thing left is to remove the u bend and remove what ever is in there into a bucket. If you dont feel able then I would call a plumber.
You or a friend will need to remove the “trap” below the sink. That is the U-shaped part. It is probably full of stuff that needs to be cleaned out. With the trap removed you will be able to look up the pipe to the drain of the sink and see if anything is in there. Also the snake will work through the pipe to the main drain after removing the trap.
Hi dsedaris. This is not such a big problem.Under your sink you will see a u-shaped pipe. This pipe will have a hexagon nut on the top and one on the bottom.Get a pipe wrench and loosen them off.The u-pipe will come off easily now.Remove th e u-pipe and you will find that is clogged with oatmeal and can be easily cleaned. You might want to go outside to do this so as not to clog another sink.Once cleaned it can now be replaced and” poof”,Bobs yer uncle, yer done.Hope this was helpfull.Good luck with your repairs.Barney
FlowEasy drain cleaner available at Lowe’s. Follow the directions exactly. draino is garbage. This stuff will eat anything organic, that includes oatmeal. Pour it in slowly. Cleaning the trap first might cure it but if it went past the trap, this is your fix. A snake will go right through oatmeal and never really clear it unless you have the right attachment for it.
