Does anybody know any home remedy to get rid of the stink from a kitchen sink’s garbage disposer?
I’ve heard you can pour various items or throw various items down a kitchen sink and make it smell more pleasing.
Anyone got a real solution? My kitchen sink smells real bad.

Try some ice cubes. Also, you can throw your citrus rinds down the disposal after you eat the fruit — it leaves a nice scent!
cut 2 to 3 lemons or limes in half and throw them in while the garbage disposer is on and at the same time run hot water through it. don’t throw all of them at once, do one piece like about every 5 seconds.
Every couple of weeks we put 1/2 a lemon (chopped a little smaller) down the disposal and grind it up. The acid kills some germs and leaves it smelling lemony fresh.
Try baking soda. Just pour a whole box of it into the disposal and let it set overnight without any liquid. Should absorb the smell. Rinse real well with clear water in the morning and once the water is running, turn on the disposal to flush it clean.
You may also need to be sure the drain line in that area has got good venting. If a drain vent gets plugged, with stuff like what come out of the disposal, sewer gases can back up into the house and that could be a real bad problem.
The anwers on the lemon or orange rind will work, unless sewer gases are not being stopped. Check to see if there is a U-shaped pipe which exits your garbage disposal. If not, someone installed it incorrectly. Call a plumber and he/she will know how to fix.
Slices or quarters of lemons. Also, when you use your garbage disposal, are you letting the water run for a while after everything is gone. That flushes it way down the pipes and may help with the ongoing problem. Oranges and limes work also. I wouldn’t put in more than a quarter of one at a time. Mine takes one-half of a lemon with no problem.
to make it smell less bad, first use half a beer…the small amount of alcohol and carbonation kills anything, but then you’re stuck with a beer smelling sink, so i usually toss down a lemon

Take a lemon and slice it up, throw the slices inside of the garbage disposal and grind them up. Walla!! The stink is gone!
