Can i connect washing machine to kitchen sink?

My washing machine connectors and drain pipe are in my kitchen. There isn’t any room for the washer and dryer in there.I want to move it to the room on the other side of where my kitchen sink is. I want to know if i can hook the washer to the sink for hot and cold water and for the washer to drain? How would i go about that??

I suppose you could. Contact a plumber to run some hot and cold water spiggots to the washing machine location. He may need to run an extended drain line for the washer.

The washing machine needs a special set of hoses. My washing machine has a pair of hoses connected to an adapter that hooks on to my faucet, and includes a drainer for the wash water.

Run your pipe through the wall for the water. The drain is another matter. Your kitchen drain may not handle the water coming out when the washer discharges it’s water. Also you would need a stand pipe so that the water from the washer will not syphon out. If you have 1 1/2 inch drain pipe for your kitchen then you should be okay.

You do need a plumber. Tapping into the water lines is simple. The problem may arise tapping into the drain. The sink drain will no doubt be too small to handle the amount and force of the washer draining. The washer drain will have to tap in below the sink drain.

It could create a gusher from the sink.

Call a plumber before deciding.

The pressure pipes are no problem. The drain likely would be no problem, but it depends on the size of pipe you have in your sink. Generally sink connections are 1 1/2 inch pipes, Washers are 2 inch pipes. Washer pipes also need to be higher to get the water going faster down the drain. You could have a little backwash coming into your kitchen sink, but kinda doubt it. It is a close call however.

Em**Jay is correct. You can get hoses and
adapters to use your kitchen sink. Some
washers and dishwashers are made to be
used with kitchen sinks. You don’t need a
plumber.
